Dressing for pottery involves considering both comfort and practicality, as working with clay can be messy. Here are some tips on how to dress for pottery:

  1. Comfortable Clothing:
    • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Pottery can be a messy activity, and clay can stain clothing.
  2. Apron or Smock:
    • Invest in a sturdy apron or smock to protect your clothing from splashes and clay. Make sure it covers your front and possibly your sides.
  3. Closed-toe Shoes:
    • Choose closed-toe shoes to protect your feet from any dropped tools or stray pieces of clay. Comfortable and supportive shoes are important if you’ll be standing for an extended period.
  4. Hair Ties:
    • If you have long hair, tie it back to prevent it from getting in your face and potentially coming into contact with the clay.
  5. Jewelry:
    • Remove rings, bracelets, and other jewelry that could get in the way or be damaged during the pottery process.

We are located in the Activity Center at Brightstar Chuch.

After your creations have dried, we bisque fire them in our kiln. Firing occurs once we accumulate a full kiln load. We recommend crafting multiple pieces, allowing you to return on a separate day for the glazing process.
